Daniela Denby-Ashe as Margaret Hale, from the critically acclaimed BBC miniseries, North & South (based on the Elizabeth Gaskell novel).

 

I was playing around with Photoshop's "Color Range" in the Selection menu. This allowed me to try for a semi-"posterized" effect. I wanted to get an "old photo" look here. It was fun!

Another Wentworth Miller portrait (from Prison Break).

 

 

This portrait was done entirely in Photoshop Elements (the inexpensively priced "lite" version of Photoshop). I wanted to write a tutorial on Elements, and this is the image I used. I went for a simple, more flat portrait, using a lot of filters, and doing quite a bit of painting over.

Another picture of Mr. Thornton (Richard Armitage) from North and South. I'm obviously on a North & South kick here!

 

I used similar "posterized" Photoshop techniques as I did with the Margaret Hale portrait (at the top of the page). I selected different ranges of tone (shadows, hightlights) and applied a gradient of color over them. It is easiest to see this in his black suit, which is now blue and purple.
